my opinion britain has alot of talent in several weights, some of them could go along way and not only win world titles but win THE world title ,WBC. the belt that generates the biggest pursue . next month we have jennings fighting cotto , jennings is a good alround fighter who can beat cotto. carl froch undefeated WBC champion, young and at his best. hatton one fight away from possible being rated at pound for pound best in the world. junior witter another who hasnt acheieved his full potential. haymaker taking on the world heavyweight title. so much talent , but people preffer to talk about khan when the is alot of other fighters before him to get ashot at the title or become a world wide name in the game. my opinion is by the end of this year we will have 5 world titles , jennings, hatton, rendall, haymaker, froch.

i agree.Khan is a simple fighter that lacks top class movement. Hatton,Jennings, Mitchell and sometimes witter have the ability to achieve the greatest of achievments. Its always an exciting time to be a british boxing fan as we ooze class and raw technical ability. Long live british boxing!!!!

looks rather silly now this thread.....................which fighters can do a hatton????? after his pitiful and humiliating show im sure that NO boxer would welcome doing a hatton now.........in saying that he has just had whats known in the game as his golden handshake..................hatton has just been retired...........there should be no bye bye fight in manchester now....unless he wants to fight a utter nobody....no spark left........and no way will he be able to rise from the ashes!!!

Another gloating idiot wise after the event.Lets mention Amir Khan in the same breath as Ricky Hatton after he's been the undisputed number one at his weight for 4 years eh? Can't stand bandwagon jumpers who judge guys entire career on their last performance, no doubt when Pacquiao eventually loses you'll be right there posting messages saying what an overrated bum he was!

ricky a great entertianer a great role model for young boxers and the heart of a lion and a champion but sadly not a world class boxer amir khan to much money to soon to upright with glass jaw moved to lightwelterwieght for one reason to avoid decent comp in velero, prescott david juan diaz very clever move by frank warren way to protect your only boxer worth anything

excuse me ben....jump over to the thread of hatton v pacman.......you will see that i quite clearly stated that hatton was only taking this fight for one reason and one reason only......MONEY (i said this straight after de la hoya was destroyed by pacman). Im going to guess you have engaged mouth 1st here and brain 2nd..........anyone with a ounce of boxing knowledge would have quite easily predicted a pacman win.
An idiot....who me??? i cant stand people who judge others without any background info........one thing i certainly wouldnt do is judge hattons entire career on his last performance..........now that would be the act of an idiot.Pacquiao has already lost fights....the sign of a great and wise fighter is to realise how to box differently to avoid defeats in the future. In boxing there are great fighters.....great entertainers.....then there is the exceptional talent...the dedicated pros..........it would surprise me to find anyone on here calling him a bum. He has achieved world titles at 5 different weights since starting at light fly........hardly sounding like he is overrated.......but it was good to get a reaction from my lastpost....so thank you Rating :

Jennings was a makeweight, a tune up fight for Cotto to continue to ease his way in after his first loss. Look at the gulf in class between the tune up - Jennings - and his most recent opponent, Clottey. Hatton was great, could be great still with the right coaching and by listening to his coach. He can battle back to a title. Froch looked pretty good against Taylor, but against more devestating punchers that low left hand will be punished. I was impressed by his resilience and endurance to win the way he did in the dying seconds.
Haye I like. Loud, brashy, fun, exciting, powerful. One drawback...questionable chin. Sure he blames dehydration for his loss and knockdowns at Cruiserweight, and probably rightly so as he had to do that to make weight. But look at his last heavyweight outing. Monte Barrett. He was on the deck 3 times I believe. 1 was definitely a slip. 1 was a slip trying to move his head back to lessen the blow of a punch. The other was a definite knockdown. I doubt Barrett had anywhere near the power either of the big Russians have. He needs a little defensive tightening and to test his jaw against a really big hitter to see if he can take it. I think when he finally does get in the ring with one of the brutes he will either blow them away in record time or be slowly beaten down over time. Great and exciting fighter though. Khan could be good. He's young, he's fast, he's powerful, he's hopefully learnt from the mistake that led to the Prescott defeat - underestimating opponents, partying more than training and thinking he'd already made it. He went back to basics, withdrew himself from the spotlight and parties, got a trainer who had a clue and looked very impressive in the comeback win, then was looking very good against Barrera in the fight stopped by the cut. I think he should give Barrera a rematch. I know Khan will win, and a rematch will silence critics saying he's running scared from the rematch. If he keeps level headed, remembers he's still a kid, and continues to listen to his coach, he shoud do just fine. |

after khan beats kitelnick his next bout will prob be against maidana hes a big banger 27 wins 26 ko's 1 deafeat. khan's upright stance makes his chin easy to hit and when he does he finds it hard to recover 5 more fights and khan will know his place in boxing which saldly is not at the top where he thinks good result against barrera ????? or good managment by his team fight a washed up superstar who is way past his best to elavate him into a title fight

I prefer to look at the top of the stairs ie Marciano, Ali, Tyson. These guys were wonders that is they had no doubles! The English startrackers are not doing enough in searching out those miracles. If that is the case they must groom properly what they have. Life is unpredictable.

I think Khan would give you a right old doing...blindfolded and with one hand tied behind his back.
Go back to college, improve your grammar, spelling and sentence construction and then have a look in the mirror and ask yourself why you are so insecure to admit that Khan is an excellent fighter who proved he was good enough to win the WBA belt. Best to be quiet 'mate', rather than expose yourself as a total halfwit. |
