According to the Sun, Carlos Tevez will only re-sign with Manchester United if he is made the joint top earner at the club. That means being paid the same £110,000 a week salary as Rio Ferdinand and Dimitar Berbatov.

I wish the FA would step in and cap player's earnings to 55K but allowing clubs to pay bonuses equally at the end of a season depending on the success of the team.
I agree that footballers should be paid well and that their careers are limited but with sponsorship money and other revenues, these guys earn fortunes on top of their basic pay. I bet any number of fans would be willing to play for their club on just 1 week's wage. They have the best job in the world and some of the money being thrown around is just ridiculous. If that be the case I think we should lower Berbatov's wages and give Tevez what he wants. Your paid for how hard and well you work in my book and Tevez has definatly given more and been more prolfic for United despite being given a lot less games last season.

Hold a minute here - look at the question being posted. Is Tevez worth the money? None of them are worth that sort of money, not a single one.
To those who also state that he should stay more for the want of winning with Man U well I am sorry but those days are long gone. There are a miniscule amount of players in the professional game who will be at any of the clubs for anything other than personal advantage and gain. That is not cynical, it is a fact of life. Football is a great game that has been ruined by this exhorbitant financial situation along with players who claim to be tired because they have had a long season or played more than a game per week (utter rubbish, they run for about twenty minutes in a game), managers who back up that nonsense and all the cheating that goes on. I do not know what he is really asking for, but if I have to rate Tevez, he deserves pretty much a place in the top flight. Comme on United, who does not see how Tevez's style is the genuine one we know from M.United for years. He is excellent, in every area we may rate him, just stop this misery and give the guy the contract he deserves, even a £150,000 wouldn't be to much for our Tevez, you all know it, funs do better than anyone, let him go for a couple of restful weeks vacation before he comes back for a 100% top form for nex season. Not saying that in any accasion should you let this guy go. No way!

in a man u fan,but i honestly think do these players know we are in world econmic ressesion,its ridiculous what players are demanding and what players are sold for,agents for the good of our great game something has to be done and quick about these amounts players are earning,little clubs cant match this sort of obscene money,yes tevez is a great player,worth £110.00 grand a week,nobody is worth that much,except brain surgeons... and just to cap it all berbatov earns more than rooney,that says it all

Although this sounds realistic, as we all now see the greedy side of Tevez wanting more, how many rumors have The Sun send out already, such as Torres to Utd and RVP to Utd. Personally I think he's made a quote along the lines of "I want to be one of the top pay players", and the Sun as usual have twisted an innocent man's words to sell a story. Stay or go, personally I don't care, as those wages could be used to pay someone more worthwhile such as Villa, Silva, Benzema, Ribery or maybe even Ashley Young, who deserves to be playing for the best club in the country.

Tevez has been a brilliant servant for united over the past 2 seasons and has scored some very important goals for us along the way, but he's not a natural goalscorer and that is exactly what we need now ronaldo is going. Rooneys goal return should be better next season but to pay tevez 110,000 a week when he barely reaches double figures in goalscoring is stupid. He may run around alot - but like Park Ji-Sung hes bad in the final third of the pitch and thats the position hes paid to be in and do well. We would be better off spending the money on Benzema or Villa as they would give a greater goal return - and goals win games.
Plus, if Tevez is worth 32 million then we got robbed for only selling ronaldo at 80mill..... Rating :

Am i the only person that still thinks berbatov was a fantastic signing, hear me out here for a moment..... Yes he is lazy, doesn't track back much, sulks because thing dont go his way etc, etc, but i believe the problem behind all of this was ronaldo. Although a fantastic player, utd's team this last 2 years has been built around ronaldo, and what bothers me most about all the berbatov headhunters is the following, The amount of scoring position he has got himself into over the course of the season, (which is what he has been bought for) is phenominal. this man has ever reason in the world to sulk when he was perfectly placed to lash the ball home, but the like of ronaldo wanted to take the chance himself and missed. This man had every reason in the world to be pissed putting up with greedy nuts ronaldo. Mark my words, this season is berbatov's season, cause he will get passed the ball more often, mark my words.

For Man U to pay that kind of money (beyond the fee to the agent), they will have to decide if he will be the best striker available. The Red Devils might be willing to keep him at that price if they have a poor season in the transfer market. Further, if he stays in the Premiership with another side, would he turn a mediocre side into a contender that would challenge for the title. Berbatov's first season was not glorious and Rio is oft-injured. Perhaps Tevez might pay a better return.

no offense, but hard work just doesnt cut it anymore. United need goals, and sadly Tevez cant supply them. We've already got a phenomenal hard worker in the team who bangs in goals and makes vital assists in Rooney, we dont need another.Tevez can go, with 80 mil we can get Benzema and Huntelaar, with either Ribery or Silva and we'd be in a much better position than we were last season, sans the $%^&. Berbatov, like all the other attacking players have had to make sacrifices to accommodate ronaldo, remember he's supposed to be a target man and yet ends up tracking back deep into midfield.Even with that he's produced some breathless moments of class and great assists.Class changes games, hardwork can only do so much. so Is Tevez worth the money? NO, not the transfer fee and certainly not the wages.Let City have him, he'd be better off being the hero of a lesser team.

if i was Tevez i would ask for the same thing. Im a Blues fan and i will like to say that Tevez impact in ManU is magnificent and well seen than all the games berba has played so far. So if Berba can get 110k then Tevez should at least get same or even higher. Move on Tevez if they can appreciate you.

How can you possibly expect him to score if he barley ever starts. Berbaov is the one that doesn't score enough he started pretty much every league game and didn't even manage to score 10 league goals now that is not scoring enough for a striker.

Tevez is easily worth the same wage as Berbatov and Rio, but at the end of the day, he doesn't convert enough to warrant that amount of money. For the same money Man Utd could get a fresh face into the squad, someone who will bring a new edge to the frontline. I'd much prefer SAF swoop in for Benzema or Huntelaar and maybe Sneijder and van der Vaart too, really freshen up the squad.

I actually think he IS worth the money, more so than Berbatov who has done nothing for me at all this past season, other than be incredibly frustrating to watch. Tevez's work rate was at times astounding.

i agree with half the people in here saying he should play for the club because he loves it, but at the same time he only really wants this money because he knows they have it, once fergi agreed to the deal with madrid teves stepped in on the chance to get more money. but at this point if united don't get bezema we would need a striker which has preformed well in the league for united, which is not berbatov.

He is worth the money. To my opinion Tevez should leave united because he would never be treated as a big player from Fergie view point. We should all have it in mind that in any club, they are players who constitute the core of the team eventhough one of the best player in united. this ranking is based on a lot of factors. for now Tevez is not within the core members of the club. so for him to stay in united, he is just wasting his time. let him go some where that he will be part of that core. that is, he will only stay on the bench if he is sick or to preserve him for a more serious game. they are clubs out there who wants to offer him that chance. the way he was treated last season was not fair. Fergie is now hanging on Tevez because Ronaldo has left this we all know. Tevez should use this opportunity to decide his future. Tevez should have it in mind that, he has now the say to his future and if he doesn't use of it and pen on united then he should know that Fergie would be the one to decide his future onwards. Fergie been an unpredictable person, one never know he might decide to purnish Tevez .

Tevez is a good player, a real fighter. I like him a lot. But UNITED is a big team, a real fighting team. Hiss first love MUST be for the team, money comes afterwards. So things hav o be decided on, as first of all the manager needs to know if Tevez will be more involved into more matches, then if he will be, then the other option must come in: "Is his love UNITED or Money??" he must decide. If its Money, then better let him go to others.

Why sign him for that much money let alone the ridiculous wages he's asking for. Yes he's a fan favourite and yes his work-rate is superb. But his goal scoring record doesn't earn those sort of wages or the transfer fee. If we do sign him there mayb a doubt in Sir Alex's mind whether to sign another striker. We need a striker that is going to have an equally good goal return as Ronaldo because I very much doubt we'd ever find another winger that will score as many goals. Antonio Valencia looks pretty much set to be at Old Trafford on the wing and with his supply of crosses, who is going to be on the end of them? Not Tevez
