I still like Agassi BUT I have lost a lot of respect for him. There was no need for him to admit to this except to gain publicity for his book, it should of been kept a secret and I cannot understand why anybody would think it was a good idea to reveal it with all he has to lose. I think he has opened a bigger can of worms than he ever imagined. I find it sad that people are defending him and saying Crank isn't so bad. It is i'm afraid, anybody who says otherwise really doesn't know the full facts about it. It is a dirty, horrible scumbags drug and is one of the most addictive drugs out there. Agassi was lucky and was one of the ones who could leave it alone after trying it once (or so he says anyway). Most people end up in a life of big time crime and their lives ruined forever. It sickens me that people defend him, i'm not saying vilify the guy forever about it, whats done is done and cannot be changed but don't dismiss it as no big deal. As for the people saying 'it isn;t a performance enhancing drug', any drug that gives people endless energy has to be classed as performance enhancing to a degree. I think a lot of fans and players will lose respect for Agassi after this and questions quite rightly should be asked about the whole thing and also about the lying of his failed test.

I do agree with you. I am totally disappointed with Agassi because of the following reasons;
1. He lied to the ATP about the drug test 2. If he was that honest as most of his supporters are claiming, why didn't he report this issue long before publishing his biography? 3. If the drug is not a performance enhancing,drug,why didn't he tell the world about it when he was still on the ATP tour as a player? He is a cheat and never will I ever look at him as a great tenniser again. He does not deserves any place in the tennis world and should never be honoured to present any trophy again.I am a strong supporter of RF and will turn my back from him if tomorrow something like this comes out of his mouth. Many guys are supporting Agassi for using drugs and crucifying Serena for her outburst which is some how human to be controlled by emotions.What a world are we building? Support someone for cheating and crucify another for being provoked by a wrong judgement? Why then should people not say that Serena is treated this way because she is black. If it was Yannick Noah who said that he had used drugs while playing and also that he lied about a drug test,would the reaction have be the same? Please, let's treat everybody equally. If we can condon with Agassi, why not Serena Williams who is even the best? Let's not seggregate. Rating :

You made a great point there British Guy, when you said you are a Federer fan but if something like this came out you would turn your back on him. I said the same thing on one of the threads about this subject on the main site, I am a Nadal fan but if the same thing came out about him then i'm afraid that would be my support and admiration down the toilet, and I can say that hand on heart too. People should not be defending Agassi, he has unfortunately dug his own grave and admitted he was a drug taking liar. Great post.

Agassi said he was buzzing with energy when he was on court after taking it.....So it did add something to his game.
It just all goes to show that, you can watch and listen to someone for their entire career and after they retire. . . . But you don't know them AT ALL!! He has damaged his reputation, if not $%^&tered it to smithereens. He has glamourised drug use, the same way rock stars do,thus doing the impressionable youth a big disservice. And unless the guy is a complete an utter moron, he must have realised it would do his personal charity no favours at all. I presume he weighed all this up as the negative side.........Balanced it against the one positive, that being he would make more money on book sales/TV appearances etc. . . . And said "I don't give a $%^& about anything but my pocket! After all, between Him and S Graff........Is he not rich enough!!! Don't trust anyone you see on TV.......You can never tell a good guy from a scumbag, despite us thinking we can judge them from our arm chair. He has damagedthe sport that gave him everything. I have to correct you there Roy. Agassi did not say that he was buzzing with energy "when he was on court" at all. While he did say that he'd never felt such energy, it was quite clear that he did not take the drug before going out on court. Even if he had, by the time he was through the warm-up and the match was underway, the effects would have worn off.
Agassi may have been an idiot for snorting the stuff but he was not a cheat. Rating :

Well Said Bobito - the voice of reason as always.
Also Salek - your post was very good. To judge a man for one moment of his life and say that everything about him was a lie shows your judgement is seriously off. Agassi gave pleasure to millions with his skill on the courts and his showmanship. Since retiring from tennis he has put back into society - he and Steffi do lots for charity. I think he was a tad stupid for the admission but I still admire him - more for the man he has become and one momontary lapse could never alter that. Judge not lest ye be judged. |

Crystal Meth just makes one so horny. If they run out, user even think a grain of rice is crystal meth, they never even get to cum, just sexual energy all over! Agassi was engaged to be married to Brook Shields at the time, maybe he needed some! It's only a performanvce enhancement drug in bed!

I actually still admire him.
Not because he admitted drug use and "wow what an honesty". No. He lied then, and that is why there was anything at all now to admit. I even think he shouldn't have admitted it, because he did more harm than good. But let's not be hypocrites. We all know he was troubled youngster, a rebel, and such things are very much part of that. I admire him for what he has become: a mature, good man, and an inspiration for children and other players. I admire when people can change for the good, and can surmount their own weaknesses. But I am still sorry he admitted this, because now he did something bad for his own legacy: and even if he didn't reckon with it, it is very-very important for people who follow and love this sport, more important than actually knowing the truth. But even if he did so now, earlier, he did a lot of good for tennis as a human being and as a player - and this cannot be annulled either, or else it is very unjust. Rating :

What now concerns me is that there seems to be so many experts on this drug!!!!
How do you all know so much. Also, and this will sound VERY sexist but i'll publish and be damned. Yes there are positives if you look at his whole career and what he brought to the game..................But who on this board seem to see the good in him more than others. . . . The female posters!.....................I wonder why? |

One wonders exactly what Agassi intended to achieve with this autobiography. The latest thing to come out is that his famous blonde mullet was in fact a wig. If this book had been written by anyone else you would have dismissed it as a spiteful character assasination. Perplexing.

A wig? It must have been superglued on.
How on earth did it stay on with him running all over the court and sweating in the heat? Amazing. I feel very saddened by these revalations - innocense in truly bliss and I would rather have not known about them. |

Even though I still like Agassi, it is truly perpexling why he wrote this book. He should have let sleeping dogs lie. What is the point he is making?
Before we dump on him, we should note that none of us is that perfect. Let's cut him some slack |
